Regular Checkups

A typical regular checkup at Dean, Horwitz and Associates involves the following:

• A thorough evaluation of your oral health and hygiene. This involves a thorough check of your oral structures to check for any signs of cavities or other dental problems. We also take this time to assess your need for tooth replacement or restorations and to check that your jaw and bite are normal. We will create a treatment plan in case you require any treatments for issues detected during the examination.

• We may also take digital X-rays of your teeth and mouth to detect any possible problems that may not be visible to us otherwise. Our office makes use of digital X-rays that are safer than traditional X-rays as they emit much less radiation. Your safety is our priority. 

• A professional cleaning. We perform a thorough cleaning of your mouth and teeth to get rid of hidden plaque and food particles that cannot be removed by brushing and flossing alone. A professional cleaning goes a long way in helping you maintain great oral health by cleansing the mouth and helping to prevent problems such as bad breath (halitosis), gum disease, tooth decay and root canal infection. 

• An oral cancer screening. We perform a comprehensive screening for oral cancer using a visual and “touch-and-feel” examination of your oral cavity.
